WIVENHOE FILM CLUB
Meets at the Nottage maritime Institute on the Quay in Wivenhoe once/twice a month between September and April, on two Wednessday in each month, the shows start at 7.30pm. It is a members club but guests are welcome. The Club was started in 2002 with a single 16mm film projector another being added soon after. The membership increased quite rapidly at first, with quit good attendances, unfortunately films that people were requesting were not always available on 16mm and the quality of the prints was quite often poor. Something had to be done, the Nottage needed a video projector for instructional purposes and it was agreed that it would be useful for the friend’s lectures and of course the film club. So one was purchased along with a large screen new Sound System and DVD player. We are now able to show much better quality films from DVD and Video. Also the range of films available is a lot greater. We try to select films to cover a larger a range of interests as possible. We have to mention that we have a stair lift at the rear of the building suitable for walking disabled, people that have difficulty getting out their wheelchair may require assistants.
