Of the two clubs based in Oban, ours is the one with a clubhouse and the more oriented towards racing, though not exclusively so. A number of Associate yachts cruise the legendary Hebrides, for the southern end of which Oban makes a particularly good base.

Our membership is about 150 and active in dinghies and cruisers - some members sail both. The cruisers are raced in two classes on handicap: the dinghies currently likewise, but have strong representation from Lasers (various) and Toppers which may lead to formation of separate classes. The Club has a small fleet of Toppers and a Wanderer for instruction (we are a RYA Training Centre) and beginners are encouraged to join in races in them.

The Sound of Kerrera and Oban Bay provide interesting and very scenic sailing for our shorter, evening races and a number of local islands/rocks are circumnavigated in weekend events. The Club is one member of the Joint Regatta Committee that runs West Highland Yachting Week.

6 of the 16 Visitors' moorings in Oban Bay are sited close to the Clubhouse (they are yellow) and Cardingmill Bay Mooring Owners Association runs the block in front and southwest of it: advance arrangements can often be made to use vacant, private moorings at a modest fee. All facilities are available in the town or nearby.
