Highland Council Harbours:- Dues with effect from 1st April 2006
Contrary to popular belief, Visitors' moorings run by this Council are not free of charge - it is just that there is no-one to collect the money in most places.
The Council's charging system is not simple. Moorings and anchorage (!) are charged at 75% of berthage rates, which come in three groups according to the economic significance of the port, and then have VAT added. For cruising visitors, there is a choice of the Single Visit rate or, definitely the simplest and probably more popular for those with a conscience, the Cruising rate. The resulting costs, including VAT @ 17.5%, are as follows:-
