V055Lotus1953Morten Lovseth,

Thanks a lot for a good looking site, and I give You my regards.
I’m a proud owner of a Vertue “Lotus”, V55 which I have owned for only one year. I-, living in Trondheim, in the midle of Norway and she was bought from a Norwegian living in Namsos, two days away.(By sail) He had bought her in Sweden and I was told it was from a private person, but it have previously been owned by the America embassy in Stochholm. I have not been able to confirm her history but I’m working on it.
She was built in 1953 in mahogany. She is 28 feet long and is in her original oiled look. (Not white painted, as I see they are in most cases in the UK.
She have a Yanmar 12 hp diesel engine and a aluminium mast. I have a bermuda rigg, using 4 sail, main, genua, fokk and a small stormfokk. Do fokk make ay sense to you?
Her hull is in very good condition, the deck as well but I have a small area on the port side deck I consider to replace. I had her in my garden this winter an did make some replacements and some technical improvements.
The summer is short but we have had a few good trips on the west coast of Norway.
Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures so far but I ‘ll be back soon with some.
Again, my regards to you and your site, I will try to bring you some more information and some pictures.
I do also have a lot of questions to you but I have to come back on those as well.
Best Regards
Morten Lovseth, “Lotus” V55

V67Betsinda  I have owned Betsinda since March 2004 at present berthed at Plymouth Yacht Haven. I am in possession of the Blue Book wherein it is mentioned of Betsinda's cruise to Cadiz. I assume with her first owner. Nothing much else known of any other cruises. The work being done at present mainly cosmetic but I understand she was restored in 1998 after some years of neglect. V099Corio Vertue

*Username:      Hans Schepers

As a teenager in the early 70’s I crewed on Corio Vertue (sail number 99)out of Hobson’s Bay Yacht Club in Victoria, Australia. This boat was built in Queenscliff, Victoria around 1960 and had spent the first 10 years of its life bay and ocean racing out of nearby Geelong.

Regards,

Hans

I have been in touch with Andy Indrans the current owner of Corio Vertue and I hope to see him in the next 2 weeks.

Kainui and Russel Heath.htm

Dear Mike- Recently I was visiting Camden, Maine and saw a boat (pic attached) that immediately got my attention-must be a Vertue I thought despite the unique deckhouse. The Broker in Camden through whom I bought Alaria confirmed that it is Kainui V106 still owned by Steve Garrand who has done the recent work. Her previous voyaging is described, as you know on the site. I was given his phone number and I hoped to encourage him to contribute to the site. Alas, the number has been disconnected with no alternate available. I will try to track him down. In the meantime I thought you might like a partial update on her.

I have recently had some email correspondence with Darrell Chalkley after you forwarded his enquiry. He sent me some photos of Rosette. He has done a stunning job in her recent build. I encouraged him to submit her story etc to the site, it should be quite interesting. Thank you again for all your work keeping the site up. It is a great resourse for telling people about proper boats!

Best wishes,

Bill Cabeen

V110Fialar
Not Known

Michael Elton reports I owned Fialar V110 from 1978 - 1986. Based in North Wales for the first two years - cruised extensively the south coats of Ireland and west coast of Scotland for two successive summers. In 1981 we left UK never to return cruising to the Med via coasts of France, Spain and Portugal wintered in Lagos, Algarve south coast of Portugal. Following summer into the Med ending up in Cyprus working for 18 months. Crusing funds replenished, engine and toilet disposed of and now married to an Australian we set sail for Sydney Australia via Gibraltar, Canaries, Cape Verde, Martinique then onto to Panama and the canal. Pacific crossing via Galapagos, Marquesas, Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji to New Zealand. Finally cruising funds exhausted we set off on the final leg to Sydney were we settled and reluctantly sold Fialar a year later. Fialar is the last I heard still in Sydney.

Regards, Michael Elton

(newsletter Oct 1994)
Finally, we all applauded Kees van de Klugt and his family who had struggled against the tide from Chichester in Contessina (Sail No.V121). Kees and his wife had been storing up and preparing the boat for a two week cruise. Stowing Lego and children’s other toys nearly always takes longer than you might think and it was a credit to Kees and his family that they made the effort to attend.

Vl24Alexia of Restronguet Anthony Ingham

(from Newsletter Oct 1994)
Alexia of Restronguet (Sail No.Vl24) made a circumnavigation of the British Isles. Alexia had been laid up in Scotland and then Anthony sailed her clockwise round. Unfortunately, due to his business commitments, time ran short and he sailed Alexia direct non—stop from London to Fowey. John Vickers in Kandy planned to visit St Kilda and the Western Isles, West Country and the Channel Islands. He returned in time for the Yachting World event but with engine trouble.

V126'Fab

I own 'Fab' a Cheoy Lee Vertue sail number 126 berthed at Chichester Marina (previous owner Vic Overton).  "Fab" is currently ashore for the winter as I wish to check the keel bolts which to my knowledge have not been looked at since she was built in 1963.  Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.
