Laying Up Dinner

There was a good turn out to the laying up dinner when the trophies were awarded by the President of the club.

The Tobermorry shield was awarded to Dennis and Betty for all the work they have put into the club over a considerable number of years, not only as treasurer but also Dennis with his cooking on the barbecue.

And Ray does it again. Doing a roll in the road with press-ups was not the only thing he got up to, he also found that he could not get through stampend lock without lowering his mast although he had lowered it to get through the bridges in Lincoln, but he raised it to go through the lock. There was the incident when he gets hooked up in a lock also.
After all that his other half decides she wants to be in on the act and jumps into the lock at Bardney .. But forgot she had her cigarettes with her and was more concerned about them than getting out of the water.
A good effort Ray but I don't think you need to have gone to so much trouble to will this trophy.

Laying Up Supper
On the evening of october 12th. 35 club members together with family and friends had a very enjoyable time at the Carpenters Arms for our last social event of the boating season "The Annual Dinner".
Although the dinners took some time to be served up an enjoyable evening was had by all and the members would like to say thank you to the "torksey Yacht Club" for subsidising the club members dinners.
We would like to thank our social secretary "Denise" and the "girls" for organising a very plesant evening.

During the evening two trophies were awarded the Tobermory trophy and the Clumsey trophy.

The Tobermory trophy was awarded to Peter Croft (Sontay) for being the most adventurous and the longest distance travelled member of the club during the past year having done several sea trips.

Tobermory Trophy Winners

The Clumsy trophy was awarded to Peter Lack (Tamar II) for the most clumsey action of the season. It was claimed that he went for a swim but the truth is he fell in.
It seems to be such an embarrassment that the boat is up for sale, but this will not hide the fact that he has won this trophy.

300 years Torksey Lock Celebrations
FUN WEEKEND

In aid of the 'Trent Safety Boat', £700.00 raised
Despite the petrol shortage and the weather the 300 year celebration of the opening of Torksey Lock turned out to be a huge success. Tony Henshaw opened the weekend with help from Herbert Cutler who fired the cannon and nearly shot a narrow boat out of the water. The weather cleared and we had two lovely warm sunny days in which to enjoy all the fun. Special thanks to all those who helped in the preperation and to those who helped on the day to make it a really enjoyable weekend.

WEST STOCKWITH RALLY

5 Boats were at the West Stockwith rally, the weather was cold but the events there made up for the bad weather.

TBA RETURN

Boats have arrived back from Nottingham With the trophys, in quick time due to the fast flow of the river Trent.

MUSKHAM DINNER

The TYC dinner at Muskham Ferry on June 3rd 2000 was a great success. Seven boats arrivedon the moorings and 21 members enjoyed a lovely meal.

TBA RALLY

The TBA rally 2000 was one to be remembered, the rally was opened on Saturday morning but with very strong winds and the river flooding the competitions were all cancelled for the day.
Sunday the weather was a bit better although it was still difficult for the competitors with all the logs and debris in the water, this made the events that bit more interesting for those crews taking part.
TYC members did very well though, and carried off a table full of trophys, and despite the weather everyone agreed it had been a very enjoyable weekend.

PEA &PIE WEDDING CELEBRATION
