Welcome to the TEYC Website

The Thames Estuary Yacht Club was founded in 1947 and is a direct descendant of the earlier Westcliff and Nore Yacht Clubs. The Club's long history gives it a stability and warmth often lacking in much of today's life as our growing family membership confirms.

We currently have a membership of about 250 who enjoy a wide programme of sailing and social activities. We pride ourselves on being a very friendly club and new members, whether they are experienced sailors or just beginning, are always made welcome.

Our Club is situated on the Thames Estuary at Westcliff -on-Sea in Essex, where we are fortunate in having some of the finest sailing waters on the East Coast. Our main Sailing Programme runs from April to October each year with separate racing programs organised for cruisers and dinghies throughout the season. For those members who prefer simply to 'potter' as a means of relaxation on the water we encourage 'fun' sailing for families and groups.

All sorts of craft are sailed at TEYC, from Cruisers to Catamarans to Toppers, proving fun and a challenge to all skill levels. Of course it is not necessary to own a boat to be able to enjoy sailing! Club members with boats are always willing to take you out, and an enthusiastic 'crew' is always in demand.

The club has an expanding Youth section and last year many attended the summer Youth Cadet week and for training to RYA standards. We are involved in the VOLVO youth training initiative with trained instructors. Sponsorship and sports initiatives from SportsMatch and Yachts and Yachting have enabled us to secure toppers exclusively for the use of the Youth section. We are also able to organise Optimists via the RYA for the younger memebers on special Youth days which are great way to find out more. Come along and meet us you'll find the adults helping the Youth in a great day for all.
