As well as our traditional gatherings, the Society is eager to try out new events which provide entertainment of educational value and interest to current and potential members. On this page you will find details of what we have planned as well as other events we have learned of and which may be of interest. If you have details of any such events or ideas which you feel may be of interest to our members, please let us know.
Contact details for TPS events are shown. Contact details for events organised by others will be provided if available but please note that the Society contacts will be unlikely to be able to provide details other than what is shown here for events organised by other groups.
Most events have an admission or ticket charge. Please be assured that once we have paid all expenses incurred by the event, every Penny left over goes directly to the maintenance of the properties and assists in promoting the aims of the Society.
2011 EVENTS
2 April
The Cottage and Elliotts Store open for the 2011 season. This is earlier than our traditional Easter opening but the garden at the cottage will be at its spring best and we want as many visitors as possible to enjoy it.
23 April
The now-traditional Annual Easter Egg Hunt for children will take place on 23rd April at Mary Newman's Cottage This being St Georges Day, why not put on your best patriotic outfit and come along to enjoy the fun. (Sorry, no dragons allowed except "assistance" ones.) We are hoping to make it a whole "Fun Day" this year so come along dressed to kill. Egg hunts will take place at 11.00am and 2.00pm. All children aged between 4 and 11 are welcome. ONLY £1.00 PER CHILD!
21 May
A Plant and Garden Swopshop will be held in the cottage garden from 12.00 onwards. Bring along your plants and tools (good condition), or anything else to do with the garden to exchange. On sale will be home grown plants from Mary Newman's garden and the cafe will be open for business as usual. Come early and enjoy ther whole afernoon whilst helping to support the aims of the Society.
18 June
Salmon Supper and Accoustic Music Event - An extremely popular event starting at 6.30pm at Mary Newman's Cottage- advance ticket only priced £7.50. These sell out very quickly so be sure to book early. Contact Brigette - telephone 01579 384381.
Shakespeare Event booked for this Summer has had to be postponed. Apologies for any disappointment but it will be back in 2012.
14 October
The Annual General Meeting - Elliotts Store at 7.00pm with a guest speaker and light refreshments.
3 December
Willow Wreath Making Workshop - At Mary Newmans Cottage with Karen from 10.00am to 12 noon or 2.00pm to 4.00. Cost £5.00. Light refreshments will be available. For further details or to boook your place please telephone 01579 384381.
11 December
Christmas at the Cottage - A friendly gathering with musical accompaniment by Toute Ensemble Early Music Windband, warm mince pies and mulled wine. Starting at 2.30pm. Just £3.00 per person. Read about Toute Ensemble here.
