There are two major projects currently being undertaken. Elliotts The Society is currently sorting, listing and archiving the wealth of artefacts and items left by the late Mr Elliott. These include masses of photographs, newspaper articles, cine film, postcards, letters, and the entire contents of his shop. This, along with a representation of the Elliott family tree will form 'The Elliotts Exhibition'. It is intended to change the display regularly to ensure that every piece of Elliott history gets an airing. This project is currently being led by Kevin Procter and Benita Pedley. If you feel you might like to help, Kevin would be delighted to hear from you. Take a look at the contacts page for details of how you can get in touch.
Mary Newman's Garden This is a major project for which we have received major funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The entire garden area is to be reconstructed as much like it would have been in Mary's time as it can be. It is intended to use period plants and designs, with interpretation to enhance the visitors experience. This project is being led by a professional project manager, John Page. It is hoped that the garden will be ready for public access late in 2007 or early in 2008. Click on the link to the left to see some pictures of the work being carried out in the garden. |
