| SeaSkills is
a specialist powerboat school based at North Berwick,
at the south-eastern end of the Firth of Forth
about 20 miles from Edinburgh. We are accredited
as a Training Centre for the Royal Yacht Association
(RYA).
The school is owned and run
by Ian Wilson, who has recently retired from his
post as Senior Helmsman for the inshore lifeboat
at North Berwick - having first joined the RNLI
at Aberdovey in North Wales in 1980.
Ian qualified as a PE teacher in 1978, and has
extensive experience running outdoor training
programmes for organisations such as Outward Bound®.
He has also managed in-house training departments
for various large multi-national companies, and
brings that experience and understanding to SeaSkills
corporate training and development events (see
that section for more details)
Ian is personally involved in
all training and coaching programmes up to Advanced
Powerboat level, and he brings a wealth of experience
to all the courses that he runs.
As an appointed Powerboat Trainer
for the RYA, he is also involved in training Powerboat
Instructors and is accredited to inspect other
RYA Training Centres.
Ian is still involved in the
training of lifeboat crews, and will share with
SeaSkills trainees some of the same techniques
taught to the RNLI.
The SeaSkills philosophy
is that the customer comes first. Our training
is planned around your needs - so contact Ian
to talk about how your training could be organised
to best suit you. We run intensive courses over
a full weekend, or on a modular basis over extended
periods. All courses are tailored to match the
particular needs and experience of our customers.
