The ice is the high-density polyethylene, which is a very strong, naturally slippery surface. It comes in square pieces, approximately 55 cm across and they all slot firmly together. For an average school we require 150 square metres hall to put the whole rink for skating. It takes one hour and thirty minutes to prepare the area for skating and one hour to clear the hall after the event. That is pretty instant for an ice rink!
We use conventional ice skates. We hold 150 pairs of skates, starting with special double bladed boots for children – sizes 8, 9 and 10 and single blades up to adult’s size 15.
We also bring protective covering for the changing area. The separate seating space set alongside the rink, where everyone can rest, have refreshments or just be a spectator. The ice skating at school is very family orientated. Frequently, Head Teachers say to us that the skating brings in so many parents that they have never seen before. |
