On Sunday October 6 we ended the sailing programme with the End of Season race. This was also the last race ever at Halfway Yacht Club but we hope it was not too sad an occasion. Some members that have moved to other clubs came back for this last race and we also had an Invitation Cruiser Race to help make the day something to remember. We were blessed with some good weather and a big turnout. Many members spent a pleasant afternoon partaking of the Apres Sail eats and drinks. It seemed the every way you looked, someone had a camera out recording the scene. We have been operating from what used to be our car park. It was full of boats of course so you had to find somewhere else to park your car. One portacabin was turned into a nice little clubhouse which served us OK. The other portacabin contained toilets and shower but it was a bit cramped for changing in and out of your gear. The set-up allowed us to finish our sailing season though and we were pleased about that. Alas, it's all over now. What shall we do next year without the Halfway Yacht Club. The new jetty has been completed and we even had a Race Hut. The beach is looking wonderful now that the re-charging has finished. It's a shame that we will not be here next year.
