BUILD YOUR OWN CANOE
The design that should be of particular interest to the canoe sailor is the DD19:
·
Length 4725 mm x 915 mm beam (15'6" x 36")·
Mid-depth 318 mm (12.5") with approx. 560 mm (22") high ends, although the ends may be lower to choice.
DD19
The DD19 is built from two sheets of 4, 5, or 6 mm thick plywood, but the thinner ply will require the bottom panels to be stiffened, thus requiring a little additional ply. The double chine hull is symmetrical, with a shallow V-bottom, a straight centre section with some rocker toward the ends and vertical top side panels. Ends are full to maximise buoyancy. As with most wooden craft fitting out such as seat positions & number can be to the builders' choice. Plans do not include a sailing rig, which may also be to personal choice.
·
Plans for the DD19 canoe are available for £15.00 in UK; £16.00 sterling foreign; $30.00 in USA. Prices for plans include postage.·
Sterling cheques must be drawn on a British bank (otherwise we cannot cash them!). Please make cheques/checks payable to Dennis Davis.·
