Rigging and fittings on Sailing Canoes

A simple downwind sail made of ripstop nylon and supported by paddles.

A basic "square-rig" sail using a tarp and two halves of a "poling" pole

A rather basic but adequate leeboard. A section of plywood, attached by a cord, which also stays in place by the pressure of the canoe being pushed sideways by the wind.

A leeboard bracket on a Royalex canoe. The bracket is bolted down onto the centre thwart and secured with wing nuts.
