History of the Club

The Northern Rivers Sailing Club began its activities in 1988 with the aim of fostering racing, cruising and social activities for owners of modern production cruising yachts based on the Norfolk Broads north of Great Yarmouth.

Membership, which is open to owners and their families from all areas, has risen from the initial seven to around fifty at the moment and the club celebrated its tenth anniversary in 1998.

A varied programme of regattas has been developed which take place on both the rivers and broads at several venues. For racing and non-racing members alike there are allied social events from pub meals and barbecues to the more formal events of the end of season prize-giving dinner and start of season fitting out supper.

Informal 'Cruises in Company' have proved to be a relaxing and popular alternative to the racing weekends, as have the 'Taste of Salt' weekend and the longer, more adventurous 'East Coast Cruise'.

Situated a mile or so up river from Acle Bridge, The Anchorage has become established as our clubhouse and start line. Members are encouraged to use this facility at any time.

If you like the sound of this welcoming and friendly group of like-minded sailing enthusiasts, why not give us a try? We actively encourage applications for membership from yacht, motorboat owners and non-boat owners alike. Further details can be obtained from the Commodore, details below;
