Welcome to The Nottage Maritime Institute Web Site

The Nottage Maritime Institute is a Registered Charity, established in 1896, specialising

in teaching not only RYA Shorebased Courses but several of our own unique courses mostly with a nautical flavour.

The Nottage is a local maritime museum with a fine collection of paintings, photographs

and models all with local connections.  The Nottage opens to the public on Sunday afternoons from May - September 2.00 - 5.00 pm. (or by appointment during the week) when a special exhibition is also arranged.

The Nottage is home to The Friends of the Nottage, a group of supporters who may use

the Nottage facilities and attend 6 lectures on a variety of subjects during the winter

months for a modest subscription. (to find out more click the tab above)

The Nottage is also home to the Wivenhoe Film Club who meet during the winter months

showing a wide range of films. We have to mention that we have a stair lift at the rear of the building suitable for walking disabled, people that have difficulty getting out their wheelchair may require assistants

(to find out more click the tab above)
