Series Races

Spring Series:

8 Days of racing, which alternate between handicap and pursuit racing. This will give a total of 24 races, of which 13 will be needed to qualify for the series trophy. Qualification days for the various other trophies will use the day's results for one or more sets of results, i.e.: Spring, Ladies, Junior, and Personal Trophies.

Summer Series:

11 Days of racing, which alternate between handicap and pursuit racing. This will give a total of 33 races, of which 17 will be needed to qualify for the series trophy. Qualification days for the various other trophies will use the day's results for one or more sets of results, i.e.: Summer, Ladies, Junior, and Personal Trophies.

Frostbite Series:

7 Days of racing, which alternate between handicap and pursuit racing. This will give a total of 21 races, of which 11 will be needed to qualify for the series trophy. Qualification days for the various other trophies will use the day's results for one or more sets of results, i.e.: Frostbite, Ladies, Junior, and Personal Trophies.

Wednesday Series:

The Wednesday series is split into two sets of 9 races (Early Wed. and Late Wed.), of which 5 will be needed to qualify for each of the series. The results of the two series will be combined to give the overall Wednesday Series results. The format of the racing will consist of pursuit racing for both series. The intention is use these races to encourage new and less experienced sailors take part in club racing and improve their sailing skills. In order to achieve this it is proposed that only two-handed boats be allowed to enter, with the new/ inexperienced sailor under the guidance of a more experience person. If there is nobody left who requires encouraging or coaching then two experienced sailors will have to take a double-handed boat if they are available. Single handed boats may only be allowed to take part if there are no more double-handed boats available.

Trophy Races

Club Champion: 3 Days of racing, 1 day from each series, as designated in the sailing calendar, will be used to determine the Club Champion Trophy results. The racing will use the same format as the series except it will not use Personal handicaps if the Club Champion qualifying day coincides with a Personal handicap trophy day. These days will give a total of 9 races, of which 5 will be required to qualify for the Club Champion Trophy.

Fleet Trophies:

4 Days of racing during Summer Series, as designated in the sailing calendar, will be used to determine the Fleet Trophy results. The racing will use the same format as the series except it will not use Personal handicaps if the Fleet Trophy qualifying day coincides with a Personal handicap trophy day. These days will give a total of 12 races, of which 7 will be required to qualify for the Fleet Trophies. Each fleet is expected to undertake safety and race officer duties for one of the Fleet Trophy qualification days. Those members on duty will receive points equivalent to a DNS for one of that day's races, to go towards the Fleet Trophy results.

Gold / Silver / Bronze Fleets:

1 Day of racing, on the 5 September, will be used to determine the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Fleets Trophy results. The racing will consist of 3 handicap races, 2 of which count towards the final results for the day. All of the fleets will start together. The various members of each fleet will be decided on the results of the previous year and for the current year to the middle of August. The fleets will be posted in the clubhouse the week previous to the Trophy racing day.

Personal Handicap Trophy:

12 Days of racing during the season, as designated in the sailing calendar, will be used to determine the Personal Handicap Trophy results. The racing will use the same format as the series, all of which will go to the final Personal Handicap Trophy results. These days will give a total of 36 races, of which 19 will be required to qualify for the Personal Handicap Trophy. At the start of the season all boat /helm combinations will be given a handicap equivalent to the Portsmouth Yardstick of the boat. These will be altered after each race to give a rolling personal handicap.

Ladies & Junior Trophies:

These two trophies use the same system of work. 12 Days of racing during the season, as designated in the sailing calendar, will be used to determine the Ladies & Junior Trophies results. The racing will use the same format as the series except it will not use Personal handicaps if the Ladies & Junior Trophies qualifying day coincides with a Personal handicap trophy day. These days will give a total of 36 races for each trophy, of which 19 will be required to qualify for either the Ladies Trophy or the Junior Trophy as appropriate.
