Minehead Sailing Club was established around 1960 and has been promoting sailing in the area ever since. In the past most members bought a single type of boat – generally a dayboat, and racing in a large fleet most weekends was the norm. A racing programme remains, with around twenty races a year while many members enjoy leisurely sailing along the beautiful Exmoor coast. The regatta is the high point of the season with visitors from all the other watersport clubs in the area.
The club currently has some 80 members, although this includes family membership so the total number of people in the club is about 130.
The sailing club merged with the Channel Rowing Club in September 2002, and changed its name to the Minehead Sailing and Watersports Club to reflect its wider range of water activities on offer.
MSWC runs several open events each year, with a quadrangular series with other Somerset sailing clubs, Wimbleball SC, Sutton Bingham, Durleigh SC.
