2004 The 3rd Annual Sea Race

On July 11th we hosted the 3rd Annual Sea Trophy Race. This year crews from Watchet, Minehead, Plymouth (MORC) and Exmouth took part. The weather conditions were what we have come to expect and love at these events. Racing started at about mid day with the men's race. Six men's crews took part, 2 from Minehead, 2 from Watchet, one from Exmouth, and one from Plymouth (MORC). Watchet (Quiver) had a fantastic start and managed to pull clear of the rest of the pack, which was probably a good idea as it all got a bit interesting at the first mark. Minehead (mavericks) in second place on the home leg but couldn't hold off the Plymouth lads who passed them some 200m from the finish. Final results were Watchet (Quiver), Plymouth (Madison), Minehead (Mavericks), Watchet (Fantasy), Exmouth (Pughs Antiques), Minehead (unkowns).   

 

It was that hat that slowed Chris's crew up.

The ladies race followed with 5 crews, 1 from Minehead, 2 from Watchet, 1 from Exmouth, and 1 from Plymouth. This was a very close race especially for second and third who were only separated by 1 second. Final results were Exmouth, Minehead, Watchet, Plymouth, Watchet.

 
 

Following a mixed / fun race the prize giving was held at the club hut. Prizes of alcohol and the respective perpetual trophies were awarded by Ray Mallat the WEARA President.
