2002 Minehead Old French Rowing Boat Race

On August 18th 2002 we held our first mini rowing Regatta. The regatta consisted of two races one men's and one ladies. The race started just outside Minehead harbour and the course went across Minehead Bay, round a marker buoy just off Warren Point, round Metropole Post, and back to the harbour (about 1500m). 5 boats took part, all of the older French Sea boats design, 2 from Minehead, 2 from Watchet and 1 form Exmouth.

The Ladies Teams

Minehead Ladies - Flower Power

Minehead Ladies - Water Babes

Exmouth Ladies

Watchet Ladies A

Watchet Ladies B

The Men's Teams

Minehead Men's - The Unkowns

Minehead Men's - Minehead Mavericks

Watchet Men's A

Watchet Men's B

Exmouth Men's, and ladies

The weather for the races was choppy, which made things a little more interesting. Predictably Exmouth won both the men's and ladies races, although not by that big a margin.

The results were:

Men's

First - Exmouth

Second - Minehead Mavericks

Third - Minehead Unknowns

Fouth - Watchet A

Fifth - Watchet B

Ladies

First - Exmouth

Second - Minehead Waterbabes

Third - Watchet A

Fouth - Minehead Flower Power

Fifth - Watchet B
