Minehead Sailing & WaterSports Club Rowing Section

About the Club

Formerly known as the Channel Rowing Club, we have now merged with the Minehead Sailing Club to become the Minehead Sailing and WaterSports Club. Within the Club various activities are catered for, this website is the Rowing Section site. We are a Sea Rowing Club and currently have 2 French Sea boats, which row 4 plus a Cox and a Virus 2 man scull boat.

The Channel Rowing Club was formed in June 2001 by five Minehead men, four from the Minehead Lifeboat Crew, following a trip to Teignmouth to watch the World Seine Boat Championships.

Following a visit later in the year to Exmouth Rowing Club the Club was able to borrow a French Sea boat and the Club was officially launched in October 2001.  A Big thank you to Exmouth who made it all possible (we might appreciate what you have done but we still intend to beat you!)

Due to the tides in Minehead the opportunities to row are more limited than in other areas, however we do try to row throughout the year and have a Club row about once a week during the summer months.
