MBRYC Club sailing rules

  1. A boat on starboard has right of way over a boat on port.
  2. A windward boat must keep clear of a leeward boat.
  3. A boat astern must keep clear of the boat ahead.
  4. A boat tacking or gibing must keep clear of one that is not.
  5. You must not touch a mark with any part of the boat or rigging.
  6. When approaching the mark, if boats are overlapped, at 4 metres distance, the outside boat must give water to allow the inside boat to round the mark.
  7. You cannot barge in at the start, remember rules 1, 2 and 3 apply from the start of the tape
 
  1. At the finish, you must give water to allow other boats to cross the line.
  2. You must give room to a boat avoiding an obstruction.
  3. A boat backing up or not racing must keep clear.
  4. If you gain the right of way or change course, you must give any other boat time to keep clear.
  5. If you violate any rule you must complete a 360 deg turn at the earliest possible time and without hindering any other boat. Turns must be completed on the same leg that the foul took place, if this is deemed possible. Failure to complete any justifiable penalty will result in disqualification.

Avoid collisions, racing rules are intended to avoid collisions not to be used as offensive racing tactics. It is always better to give way than force a collision, even if you are in the right.Always remember, radio sailing is intended to be a pleasure for all participants, avoid controversy and enjoy the day !
