Qualifications & successes

Over a third of LOSA members are qualified skippers, 18 of these (five of them disabled people) have qualified since becoming LOSA members.

During its first 10 years, about 150 people have sailed with LOSA, of which over 60 of whom had disabilities. The range of disabilities has included profound deafness, visual impairment, diabetes, epilepsy, heart conditions, impaired mobility due to strokes, accident, neurological conditions. About 25% of these were wheelchair users.

LOSA runs winter RYA courses and half of its members now hold one or more qualification in
