This section of this site covers our most important activity, Dinghy Racing. It includes
Racing is on Sunday afternoons from March until the end of October. We normally have two races, but some months we squeeze in three. Handicap and pursuit races make up the majority of races.
When it is light enough, we also race on Wednesday evenings - typically April until August. After the race, we then go to the pub to eat and drink. See the Racing Section for the programme and more details
The Club Sailing Programme is broken into a number of Series. Within each of these a number of classes of boats may be sailed. Prizes are allocated to the winners and high placings in each of these classes.
A typical year may be broken into a number of different series named after the seasons, i.e.
Handicap races, both normal and pursuit, are used for a number of reasons, and the highlight of the year's program is the massed start for the Llandegfedd Pin Trophy. This is a small beer barrel, and is supplied with beer for the winner!
We hold Open Meetings where we welcome visitors from other clubs, both for Youth and Class associations. In the middle of summer we hold a Regatta and barbecue. Most years we have a set of races in support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution - Just in case!
The club encourages racing as a good way to develop sailing skills. All club members are welcome to join in, with advice offered to the less experienced sailors to get them started. Racing can be enjoyed at all levels, not just by the expert. See our special JULY Series!
