The club owns a number of dinghies for training and general member's use. Providing that they are not in use for club training, and they are in good working order, they may be used by any paid up club member.
All we ask is that they are kept clean, are looked after, and those who sail them are competent enough in the wind conditions. They must be put away after use by whoever has used them
Contact Mervyn for details. In general the easiest time to use the boats is when we are doing club racing. Access is easier, and you may get advice as long as the person questioned is not tying to go racing at the same time.
During 2004 we are upgrading our race control boats. for a number of years we have had a simple committee boat. Its not been ideal, but was a bargain. she rocks a bit much in the wind and waves, but goes fast. We have a new boat that will be permanently mored at the North end of the reservoir near the middle
This boat is a V-shaped planing hull quite often used by amateur fishermen. With a small cuddy, this is used during Open Meetings and other events as a committee boat. It can have a small mast where we hoist the flags.
" The pride of the fleet is Doris. She is getting on in years, and her charms had faded, but a facelift has done wonders. A "Wilson Flier", broad in the beam and 23 feet long, she is a very stable platform. We will be putting on racing control features, horns etc. The mast is already there and she will preside over the Open Meetings in early June 2004. Photo to appear later.
We have two boats for rescue and training purposes ONLY. They are often not on the water as we get full rescue coverage from the Reservoir Wardens.
When it is windy during racing we launch the RIB. This is most likely to be used by the OD and rescue duty crew. Fast, easy to drive and very stable as a rescue platform.
Our newest acquistion is aimed at training. Its a "Topper Chaser" with a quiet engine
