Dear Members,
Please find attached the Notice of Annual General Meeting for the 2007 season. The meeting will be held at the Sports and Social Club, BAE Systems Glascoed, on 16th November and will start at 8:00pm.
I have also attached the list of nominations for the 2008 officer positions and details of the proposed changes to the club’s constitution.
We still have vacancies for the following positions which we would like to fill;
Please contact myself or any of the Committee Members if you would be interested in putting yourself forward for any of these positions.
Best regards
Paul
General, sailing and social committees drawn from the above plus volunteers.
The AGM is at BAE Systems Glascoed Sports and Social club, which is on the A472 between Usk amd Little Mill about 2 miles from Usk. Travelling from Usk go over the bridge and bear right, go past Coleg Gwent along a straight section and the hidden entrance is 10 yards past the Blue sign for Monkswood, if you see a road sign for BAE Systems Glascoed (the factory) you have gone 300yards too far.
From Pontypool go through Little Mill on the A472, then after 1.5 miles pass the Beaufort pub and go straight ahead at the BAE Systems Glascoed road sign and after 300 yards turn right into BAE Systems Glascoed Sports and Social club, if you reach Coleg Gwent you have gone too far.
If you turn from the A472 into a small housing estate ultimately leading too a security gate that is the factory site and you need to go back to the main road turn right towards Usk and it is 300 yards on your right.
The following link will help.

Note: New blood is urgently needed on the committee, as ever! We need a new Newsletter Editor this year. Please remember that being on the committee is a good way to get to know people, and to influence the future of the club.
I nearly got through my term of office without looking at the Club's constitution, but I wanted to propose one change to the Club's practice, and I discovered that the rules must be altered to accommodate it. In case you are interested, the Rules are on the Website at www.llandegfedd.org.uk (under Admin, Constitution)
Although the sailing year runs from 1st March to 31st October, the Commodore and Committee hold office for one year from the AGM. The Rules say that the AGM must be held in December or January. In reality, most of the planning for the next season is carried out by Christmas. Therefore, the new officers take their posts after the planning has been done. It makes more sense for the new committee to plan for the year in which it holds office. I therefore propose that the AGM be held in November. I suggest that it should take place early in November, so that the new team can co-ordinate the new season, and the old team can relax.
Permit AGM to be held between November and January There will be a consequent change, which doesn't require a change in the rules- " That the financial year will run from 1st September to 31st August in subsequent years. The current financial year (which started on 1st November) will be short. This will allow the accounts to be prepared in time for the AGM. We also noticed another 2 areas to tidy up-
Change in definition of full membership. Adults and any children under 19 or in full time education.
Remove references to "Racing" and "non-Racing" members, replace with "Full" and "Senior" members

Plenty of space for volunteers to help!
Again, we can cope with more helpers, especially those who want to research suitable drinking establishments.
This page will grow very slowly to include our AGM details, such as Agenda and the following minutes.
The AGM minutes will be provided in adobe acrobat format partly so they cannot be (easily) changed
If you already know what Acrobat is, just jump to the files and download them! If not, and it is all new to you, then the following paragraph may assist
Adobe are an American company that have produce a file format called "Portable Document Format". The idea is that users on Windows, MACintosh, Unix and other machines can all read documents and print them out in the same format, and they will look the same. It copes with printer quirks, font formats and other issues such as pictures. I have seen it used by companies to issue important documents that they do not wish to have changed (such as contracts) The beauty is that the Sailing Club notes etc are more likely to print correctly, are more likely to be smaller, and YOU can use your own printer without worrying what my laser printer may be thinking of. If you have not got the Adobe Acrobat reader, you can download it for FREE. There is a link below. Just follow it and click on the same icon again to choose the correct version of Adobe Acrobat reader for your own computer. It is highly likely that your browser will also link the the Adobe Reader and automatically show the files correctly straight away.
This is where to pick up the reader IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT ALREADY
