For Jenter to attend the rally, she will need to leave her home base of Burnham-on-Crouch at about half tide and take the ebb out of the river. Once well clear of the Foulness sands, she can turn to starboard and take the flood tide towards London. Even so, she is unlikely to get far past Gravesend before the tide turns against her. The distance is simply too great to manage on a single tide and we will complete the trip over a period of two days with an overnight stop enroute. The First Mate, Jenny, is unavailable and I have been fortunate in securing the services of Arnold Robinson, member of The Victoria Shadow Association and owner of the Victoria 26 cutter, Shikara. |
