Sam and Matilda have both had some sporting success to start off 2003. Sam got back to full fitness for rugby and resumed training with the county team. Unfortunately he narrowly missed selection for the first county match but should get to play in at least one match giving him a chance to correct the error he's convinced the selectors made! On a brighter note, Sam's school team, which he captains, is currently ranked no 1 in the UK by www.schoolsrugby.co.uk - click here for the league table.

Matilda, swimming in the Leamington Spa Swimming Club Championships won a -close race to become the under 6 freestyle champion and even had her name in the Leamington Courier! She won a cup and a trophy, both of which she's very proud of. She later followed this up by winning the breast stroke event in the next gala breaking the club record by nearly 4 seconds.

Angharad's birthday party was a great success with all her class mates. She went to Brush and Bisquit in Stratford and they each painted a piece of crockery to keep. She also went away with her school to stay at the Calvert Trust in Devon and had a great time.

Sam did manage to get in the county side, playing a blinder against Staffordshire, including a critical try when the sides were running neck and neck to put the game out of reach for the opponents.  He then got selected  for the last match for the last match against Yorkshire who were also unbeaten and played another stormer to be named man of the match by both team coaches. The season ended with a National 10-a-side tournament at Rugby School. Sam made the 15 man squad and the team unluckily finished second of 4 in their group matches. On the second day, Warwickshire played in the plate competition (for the second placed teams) and comfortably outclassed the other three teams to take the trophy.

Major news of the year for Nick was being promoted to Professor of Clinical Oncology at the University.
