Course
Structure
The RYA have introduced a new training structure. The Sailing
Level 1 and 2 are now called Start Sailing
and Basic Skills. The
structure of these two courses remain basically the same as
the old Level 1 & 2. Here at Haversham, Basic Skills will
be combined with Start Sailing .
The Powerboat Course is an introduction
to driving/handling the Club Rescue Boat. Club members partaking
this Course will be expected to do Rescue Boat Duty (instead
of any other Club Duty) on 1 or possibly 2 Sundays during
the year. They will probably do their first year as Rescue
Boat Crew.
The Safety Boat Course is a
follow on from Level 2 incorporating Race Management duties,
Dinghy Rescue, Windsurfer Rescue, Towing etc. Only Level 2
holders can do this course. Rescue Boat helms are all expected
to have this qualification.
There is no charge for either of the powerboat courses.
Course Fees
A charge of £50 (fifty pounds) per Club Member will
be made for all sailing courses. Successful candidates will
receive their RYA Logbook and pass certificate. Watch this
space for further details.
