The Patio

These thumbnails will show the progress of the construction of the new patio at the Clubhouse. Preparation has already begun with exploratory work on the existing foundations to assess what work and materials are required to develop this area. Work will start January 2010 and it is hoped to complete the project by the end of April 2010. As with all major projects and of course work parties, any help would be gratefully appreciated.

The general idea is to remove the complete concrete covering on the patio. taking some of the weight away which is causing the slide and subsidence. The shale under the concrete is to be removed on to the north bank and laid out to the north of the compound so that can be extended for trailers in the future. the patio level will drop so you neither need to step up or down as you leave the club house making a disabled entrance. with the central retaining wall/railway sleepers scrap metal removed and new foundation/footing laid it will support the new lower wall keyed into the two old bally bridge buttresses. During a low tide concrete will be put into the gape between the bank and riveting to prevent any more of the bank being washed away. A wooden staging will be constructed covering the whole lower bank frontage and extending into the river passed the damaged riveting. The wooden part of the patio will be extended by approx 2 mtrs towards the river covering to small stairs a wooded fence /barrier will replace the old metal fencing the stairs on the right of the club will be the only way down to the mooring the broken upper gate will be replaced wide enough for a wheel chair and the ground made good for wheel chair access the whole area then covered with a 2" thick layer of concrete. siting drainage and support for the umbrella.
