Topper Open 2003
Great Moor Sailing Club hosted the second of the Eastern Area Travellers Series on Saturday 26th April. The event was well supported by 26 competitors. With all but three of the competitors under 15 the fleet is heavily dependent on parental support, which made it doubly pleasing to see so many visitors, well done Mums and Dads.

The racing was held in unexpected sunshine and an ideal force 3. After the first two races a pecking order was established. James Sparrow (Norfolk Broads YC) won races 1 and 2 and it looked like the minor places would be fought over by the chasing fleet of Richard Patrick (GMSC), Matt Undrell (Haversham SC), Adam Fox (Stewartby SC) and Tom Weatherhead (HSC), all with 7 points.

However, the position was not so clear after race three, James Sparrow had a bad race finishing 5th. Adam Fox capsized whilst leading to let Matt Undrell and Richard Patrick through, Matt Undrell went on to win the race.
This left an interesting situation for race 4, James Sparrow still looked favourite, but was vulnerable, Matt Undrell and Richard Patrick were still in the running. In the event Matt Undrell had a poor final race finishing 4th and despite Richard Patrick winning the final race, James Sparrow did enough to win the meeting by 1 point. Following a poor race in the morning Hannah Carter settled down returning some credible results to take the ladies prize. Tom Weatherhead finished 5th overall and took the under 13 prize.
