Open Day 2008

Despite some inclement showers, the club's annual New Members Evening, Open Day and Camp and Sail weekend went very well due to the hard work of the committee and members.

We had over 70 for the new members evening, about 180 members of the public for the open day and over 175 at the evening do.

Special thanks go to Sandy and Ian Bullivant for organising much of the weekend and the catering for the evening, Leigh and Jeannie Stephenson for doing the BBQ catering on the Friday evening, Andrew for the music on Friday and for the loan of the sound system, Wally for coming all the way form France to do the lunchtime Barbeque on Saturday, Ian and Sheena for the wildlife and ladies evening displays, the volunteer helms for the boat rides, Kate and Tim for the paddle sport activities and Tim and Ian for doing the fireworks and lots of volunteers for various tasks throughout the weekend, in particular Emma and Rachel for collecting the boat-ride charity money all afternoon (proceeds are going to the Buckingham Hospice).

Thanks to the Army for the loan of the tents and of course to the band "The Pistons" (www.pistonband.co.uk) for entertaining us on Saturday evening.

Thanks also for the hard work of Tony and his team getting the clubhouse and decking ready for the weekend (and even building the temporary pergola on the Saturday afternoon!).
