Hello Sailors!

As many of you know, last years August Social Sailing Weekend was a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended. The weather was hot and sunny and we had a fantastic turnout and great family atmosphere. We’re hoping that this year’s first Social Sailing Weekend, coming up in May, will go down just as well. Granted the weather isn’t traditionally as good at this time of year but don’t let that stop you popping in for a sail and some social time with other members, some of  whom will be camping so the bar or galley should be open most of the weekend.

This is a great event for new members, especially those who will just have finished sail training and may not have a boat yet, to get out on the water and gain a bit of confidence, (club boats will be available for use) and there are usually people around willing to take you out in something you’ve not sailed before. We’ll endeavour to make sure that rescue cover runs throughout. That said! We are looking for volunteers to help run rescue, galley and bar, if you feel you can help even for an odd hour, that’ll be great, get in touch with Simon/Paula Hopkins, Bill Gribble or Keith Hill (contact details are listed in your club handbook). Alternatively allocate yourself a volunteer slot on the event sheet that will be pinned up in the clubhouse.

Family games have been arranged so bring the kids, come on down and have some fun.

Lastly boat owners who haven’t been to the club for a while this is a good chance to call in, maybe mow your plot and do any of those long awaited repairs.

Regards

Simon Hopkins
