Sadly for the Club, we shall be losing Ed and Julie who will be moving from the area. Consequently we shall be looking for a new Treasurer and Secretary at least until the AGM in the autumn, when formal nominations can be made.  We shall thank Ed and Julie in the appropriate way for their invaluable contributions, but in the meantime, if you feel able to step into the breach in the short term in either capacity, please have a word with Frank Hall, David Greenfield or any other Committee Member.

Thanks.   Frank Hall

Obituary

Unfortunately I have to inform you of the death from pneumonia on 12th April of Garry Ashby.

Garry was a sailability member for the last 4 years and persevered through painful physical disabilities. He was always happy and loved to come sailing. He will be sadly missed.

Garry was the producer of the Sailing Club Key rings that we had on sale last year.

His last request was that a collection was made at the funeral in lieu of flowers and this be donated to our Sailability Group.

The date of his funeral is Friday 25th April.

TASTER DAY

Taster Day is on Sat 10th May, but so far we have only had a few members come forward to help.

As well as Sailors, we need Jetty Marshals, additional rescue boat drivers to help Ed Noble.  Meeters and Greeters to welcome the public to the Club and assist Julie Noble in Booking in.

5 or 6 members to help Gill Dando in the Galley.  Members to be on hand to assist on questions about the Club.  etc

If you can help, if only for part of the day, please contact Geoff Coxe

I am in the processing of recording past history of Club Sailing Results, plus keep an archive of Club History using Yearbooks and Newsletters.

I particularly need copies of the Yearbooks for 1998 & 1999, containing the results for 1997 & 1998 respectively.  I am also looking for yearbooks and Newsletters before 1981.

Please help!

It is with great sadness that I inform all members of the recent death of Barry Weston.

Barry died on November 7th after a short illness, his wife Annette was at his bedside.

Barry and Annette met at FOSSC over thirty years ago.

Both were very active members in all aspects of the club and for some time Barry was treasurer.  They have one married son Alistair and a grandaughter Hannah.

Although they moved away from Gloucestershire to Tiverton and then Sidmouth they always retained their interest in the club and attended the 40th anniversary celebrations last July.

Barry and Annette moved back to Gloucestershire three years ago and lived at Cleeve Hill.

The funeral will take place at 2.45pm on Friday 16th November at St Paul's Church, Cheltenham.  Members of the club who knew Barry and Annette are encouraged to attend.
