Westerly GK29

"Growling Kougar"

Westerly GK29 Growling Kougar is the cruiser/racer version of Westerly's popular GK29 and was built in 1979. She has been in our ownership since 2004. Since that time we have carried out much refurbishment work, including a brand new Beta Marine 25hp 3 cylinder engine, new 3 blade prop, new instrumentation, new upholstery plus many other improvements. She had her hull completely stripped back, hot vac dried and new gel coat, for added strength a Kevlar sheet was laid over the hull.

She sails very well in most conditions and is easily managed by a crew of two with sail control lines led back to the cockpit. She has won many races locally. Despite her racy lines, she has an attractive traditional Westerly interior and 5 good berths.

Tiller steering, fin keel, masthead rig, standing and running rigging new 2003. Sheet Winches Lewmar 40 2-speed, spinnaker winches Lewmar 30 2-speed, halyard winches Lewmar 30 & 16 2-speed. Spinnaker pole, lazy jacks, spinlock jammers. Bower Anchor CQR 25 lbs on 30ft chain, kedge anchor fisherman on chain/warp.

Mainsail, No 1 Genoa on furling gear, No 3 Genoa all in good condition. 2 Spinnakers lightweight and heavyweight. Spare Mainsail and Genoa.

CD/Radio, 7 inch TV. Batteries 2 Auxiliary 1 Main. Plastimo Cooker new 2005 Fridge built in Coolbox + 12v Coolbox. Lavac Toilet, 2 Plastimo compasses. Log/Depth, Windex , GPS Repeater all Nexus and renewed this year. Navtex, Autopilot, DSC VHF Silva, Garmin 230 Chartplotter , JRC radar new 2005, 4 man liferaft in Valise, Avon dingy.
