MEDINA COMBINED CLUBS

The three constituent clubs of MCC, the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, East Cowes Sailing Club and the Medina Mariners Association have now pulled together their planned programme of events for 2009, which it is hoped will offer something for all of their members to choose from. First off is an open boat jumble planned for Saturday 28^th March, to be held at Newport Quay which it is hoped will be supported by other clubs on the Island as well. Then, for the second year running, the Good Friday evening pub games event on 10^th April will be held at the Cowes Corinthian, which will also host a quiz night on Saturday 3^rd October and a horse racing evening on Saturday 28^th November.

As for sailing events, four weekend cruising rallies are planned, to Marchwood YC on 16^th/17^th May, to Lymington on 4^th/5^th July, to Arun SC (Littlehampton) on 15^th/16^th August, and to Hornet SC (Portsmouth Harbour) on 26^th/27^th September. It is also hoped that club members will give good support to East Cowes Sailing Club’s “Sail the Wight” fund raising event for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on Saturday 30^th May, and also the Club’s Annual Regatta on Saturday 18^th July.

Club members are asked to look out for individual notices for each of these events nearer the relevant dates but in the meantime, if anyone requires any further information about them, please contact Terry Webb, the MCC co-ordinator, on 209488, or email Terry on “honorarysecretary@medinamariners.org”.

In the meantime, members are also asked to note that the three clubs will continue to work together to better represent their interests on matters relating to the Medina Estuary, and so should contact Terry if there are any issues they wish to have raised with the relevant statutory bodies or other agencies.
