Laying Up Supper 2009
About 60 members enjoyed a social evening of good food, drink and conversation on the evening of Saturday 12th September. The Centre Store was transformed from a boat-store into a great social setting. Our resident cook, Vice Commodore Paul Walker and his helpers ensured we were well fed, the Crew Pot, Paella and the vegetarian options went down very well.

Later in the evening, a cheque for £5,322 was presented to David Cheek of the Isle of Wight Hospice. This money was raised by the "Sail the Wight" charity race held at the end of May this year. Also, we all sang a Happy Birthday to a long-standing Club member, Tony Bond, whose 65th Birthday, and his retirement, happened to almost coincide with the Laying Up Supper!

Many thanks go to all those who helped make the event a great success, to those who ran the event, and helped to set up the venue, and take it all down again! The next Social event is the Prizegiving Evening, to be held at "The Lifeboat", East Cowes Marina on Friday 20th November. There is also the ECSC and Westerly Owners Association Christmas Dinner at the Albert Cottage on 5th December - places for this are limited, and are going quickly, so please see Paul Walker pronto if you wish to attend!
