High Tide inundates East Cowes Sailing Club
by Al Blenkinsop, Rear Commodore

Several members today (Sat 7 Oct) donned Wellington boots or bare feet to help haul up the first two yachts this year for winter lay-up. The highest tides of the year ensured that most of the yard was inundated by the River Medina from about 11am onwards. The hauling-up of Chaos (Tony Bond) and Uforia (Dennis Steele) was achieved with little disruption caused by the flooding. Fine October sunshine was enjoyed by all those involved.

The water finally receded from the yard at about 2pm.
