Class Measurement and Racing Rules for Embassy Sailing Dinghy

1. Introduction.

The Embassy Dinghy is a restricted Class designed by R. Reynolds and produced by Tratman and Lowther Ltd, of Bristol. The object of the design was to allow boats to race together and compete on equal terms with each other. So each boat should be within reasonable limits of any other in terms of hull shape, sail plan, weight etc.

Tolerances are allowed in the measurements to allow for slight errors in construction ageing, but not for intentional variation. Minor variations are allowed in the design and shape of the original fittings to enable each owner to try out his ideas, but not to an extent which will give him any specific performance advantages.

2. Construction.

The hard chine marine ply construction, which is available in kit and ready-to-sail form from the builders is standard to all boats and should any member build his own boat from scratch it must conform to these standards.

3. Rig.

The Gunter rig of the Embassy Dinghy is standard to all boats and no other rig can be entertained in Class racing.
