The Dorchester Model Sailing Club

Not Everybody knows that in the Beautiful and Tranquillity of the Dorchester Lagoon, there are two sailing clubs, the main dinghy sailing club and the model sailing club. The model sailing club was formed about 5 years ago to meet the demands of sailors who were modellers in the main club. There were several non-sailing club members also interested in model sailing, so the model sailing club was formed. It seemed a good idea to me, so I approached the main sailing club committee and was given permission to form the club providing we were self-sufficient. We meet every Wednesday afternoon, and welcome newcomers.

The D.M.S.C as we are known is very informal, we organise a few friendly races among ourselves and most of the boats are one metre, as this a popular class. Because we sail mid-week, most of are members are OAP’s, we sail from 2pm to 5pm and have the use of the clubs facilities.

We are organised and have our own rescue boat.

If your interested contact Len Marsh on 01865 858177 or see me at the club any Wednesday from 2pm onwards, new members always welcome.

Come and have ago, we will lend you a boat and transmitter and bags of help. You won’t even get your feet wet.
