Please note:

Assistant Officers of the Day should arrive at the club by 1030 Hrs
It may, rarely, be necessary for AODs to enter the water to rescue sailors and/or boats.
They should have available suitable boaty clothing [dry or wet suits], something warm to change into and of course a buoyancy aid.
The Officer of the Day, who is in sole and total charge of the day’s events, will allocate duties to AODs. The OOD can do no wrong and is always right!
During the summer and holiday series, with three races, the day’s activities will probably end at around 1600 hrs. The winter series has two races and may end earlier.
If for any reason a member is unable to attend for the programmed duty, it is their responsibility to arrange a swap and then confirm the change to pi.booker@tiscali.co.uk or telephone 01491 825864.
It is NOT possible to find a substitute by telephoning or emailing the roster secretary.
If an AOD, for an important personal reason, is at short notice unable to attend his or her scheduled duty, he or she should telephone the appropriate OOD and advise him of the problem.

In spite of all this, being an AOD is generally a very enjoyable day and it’s a good way of meeting and talking to other members. It’s also an excellent introduction to dinghy racing for members who do not currently race their boats. And of course it’s a major contribution to the club’s continued well being.
