Membership of Delph Sailing Club Radio Controlled Lasers

The General Committee agreed to propose a new category of membership and at the Extraordinary General Meeting held on Sunday 29th March 2009 the following article was agreed:

10(f) RCL Members, who shall be entitled only to participate in the sailing of

Radio Controlled Lasers in accordance with

arrangements made by the Club for such an activity.

Thus it is now possible to join Delph Sailing Club solely to sail your Radio Controlled Laser.

If you are interested in becoming a Member of DSCRCL please contact Delph's membership secretary, David Helme, who, as well as being a RC Laser sailor, deals with all aspects of membership of Delph Sailing Club.  dave@helme.org.uk

Sailing Instructions

Delph Sailing Club RC Lasers: Sailing Instructions

1. Racing will take place under the ISAF racing rules of sailing 2009-2012 (RRS), the prescriptions of the RYA and the Racing Charter. Specific rules for Radio-controlled boats are listed in Appendix E of the Racing Rules of Sailing.

2. Each skipper must be a member of the Model Yachting Association (MYA) thus ensuring each skipper has 3rd party insurance. (Membership is currently £10.00 per annum)

3. Yachts must be registered with the UK RC Laser Association.

4. Suitable buoyancy aids must be worn at all times when on the water, on the pontoons or embankments.

5. Hitting a mark will not incur any penalty, except a start mark at the start or a finish mark at the finish when a 3600 penalty will apply in accordance with RC Laser class rules.

6. Only one result may be discarded in each race. Six heats normally constitutes a race. There will be no discard if less than three heats are sailed.

7. One race will be discarded for each multiple of three or more races in a series.

8. Points for failing to finish or start a race will be the number of starters plus one.

9. Series results will be calculated by adding the results for each race held on a particular day. Six heats normally constitutes a race. Two races are normally scheduled for each day.

10. In the event of a tie the results will be calculated using Appendix A, rule A8.

11. No modifications to boats are permitted unless specifically sanctioned by the Class rules. All requests for clarification will be referred to the Association for a ruling.
