Talks Programme 2007

Inspiring talks by some of the top personalities in the international paddling world.

Monday 22nd   January 2007 Kendal Goldfever, Whitewater and Grizzlies

Tuesday 23rd January 2007 Keswick

 Jim Hargreaves
Jim Hargreaves is a "canoeing living legend" and renowned raconteur. Tossing aside the trappings of modern society, and wearing only a discarded Theakston's barrel, Jim 'Old Peculiar' Hargreaves has spent the last ten years exploring the wilderness rivers of Canada's Yukon and Northwest Territories.  This should be a vastly entertaining evening as Jim explores the history, folklore and wildlife of the best of Canada's remotest and wild rivers including the Yukon, Nahanni and Mountain .

Monday 12 th February 2007 Keswick Mountains high and rivers deep - living a wild wet dream
Tuesday 13 th February 2007 Kendal Alan Ellard

Alan is Britain's leading white water expedition kayaker, and a member of the international team that made the first descent of the Great Bend of the Tsangpo in 2002 (the 'Everest' of rivers).  Tonight Alan shares his adventures over the last ten years - "We started as young, wild raft guides working in the Himalayas, riding bus roofs, paddling by the seat of our pants, but living a dream - making first descents of the Worlds great rivers - the Myhka in Burma, the Chenab in Kashmir, and the Dibang in Arunachal Pradesh - somehow we survived!" .

Monday 5th March 2007  Keswick Circumnavigation of the British Isles
Tuesday 6th March 2007   Kendal Fiona Whitehead
Fiona is best known as the first woman to successfully circumnavigate Britain and Ireland single-handedly in a kayak.  However her enthusiasm has led her to try out many branches of the sport of canoeing and taken her to Israel, Wales, Scotland, Spain, Ireland, Australia, Alaska, and North America.  Fiona is a popular speaker and tonight she will share her love for canoeing, her life in the outdoors, and her experiences on many expeditions - in particular her circumnavigation of the British Isles.
