MISSING CANOE

Background

Some time in the first half of June 2007 a much-loved wooden canoe was taken from the Broadness shore of Bassenthwaite Lake.  It had been kept there under bushes during summer months for the last 32 years - without paddles of course.  It may have been paddled away as the only road access is through a gated farmyard.

The Canoe

The canoe is a wooden open Canadian-style design made from an Otter Sports kit in the 1960s.   It is much varnished and now quite dark underneath and it has a unique minor construction fault which makes it easily identifiable.  A photograph of it taken some years ago.   It is a grandmother's pride and joy and six grand children's great delight.

If anyone has any information about a canoe like this being found or offered for sale please telephone 017687 76485

Many thanks for your help
