The Outward Bound
Ullswater - Norfolk Island Challenge Race.

Start and Finish: Outward Bound
Ullswater.
Distance: Approx 7 miles from Outward
Bound around Norfolk Island and back.
Juniors under
14 and 16, race as far as Aira Point and back, approxiamately 3 miles
Classes:
Touring Open Canoe doubles The annual Carlisle Canoes shield race
Touring Sea kayak The annual Knoydart shield race
Racing
kayaks Racing sea kayak, K1 or Wave hopper etc.
General purpose kayak
Prizes: Male, female, under 16/14 in all classes. (A fun, parent and child
race too, so please bring the family)
Entry fee: £5 per kayak or £8 per canoe and £3 for
single class juniors.
Please try to notify the organiser at least 1 week before, by contacting
Nigel Timmins (pay on the day at
above rates). Or write to Sheigra, Berrier Rd, Greystoke, CA11 OUD. Cheques made
payable to Cumbria Canoeists.
Register at Outward Bound Ullswater (just off the A592), between 10am
and 11:30am start is at approx 12:15pm. Changing and toilets are available at the start.
This is an open water race and conditions can be quite
testing. Spray decks are compulsory for all kayaks, and all competitors must wear buoyancy
aids. Course may be changed on the day. All competitors are responsible for their own
safety, though safety boats will hopefully be on standby.
Cumbria Boats:
The Perception Wavehoppers and a sea boat are available, free of charge to Cumbria
paddlers. Contact Nigel Timmins to book one.
