About us

History: Velmore Chapel was opened in 1968 on its current site. Many of the founding members helped to construct and furnish the building in which the church still meets today. To celebrate our 40th anniversary Velmore Chapel became Velmore Church. Though the name has changed, our beliefs haven't, and nor has our desire to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our community.

Today: As well as what's on at the church, we're involved in the community in other ways. Members from the church regularly hold short services for local residents in sheltered housing such as Fernhill and Surrey Court. Bob also helps to lead the Alpha group at Thornden school, and takes assemblies from time to time at Nightingale school.

We also host meetings for Chandler's Ford Parish Council, Aviary Children's Centre, and First Wessex from time to time. The local Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) hold regular surgeries at the church, and support our Youth Club.
