Sailing Club is located in the Scottish
town of Burntisland on the North side of
the Firth of Forth in the Kingdom of Fife. The nearest large
towns are Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline and
the city of Edinburgh is 20 miles away by
road. The
club is based in Burntisland docks which
are owned and operated by Forth Ports plc.
The club has a large clubhouse and a
fenced storage compound normally used for
winter storage of boats. Water and power
are available in the compound. Moorings
are available for approx. 20 keel boats
ranging from 15ft to 30 ft in length. All
moorings are accessible at low tide.
The usual sailing season is from
April to the end of September. A crane is hired twice a
year for the crane in which is in mid/late April and a
crane out in early October. The crane is operated by the
hire contractor with the support of banksmen provided by
the club. The club compound is available for winter
storage. Costs for the craning are shared amongst boat
owners. Winter storage and mooring costs are based on
boat length.
The Club owns a
workboat for maintenance of moorings and
buoys.
The club house has
extensive views of the Firth of Forth
from the Bass Rock to the Forth Bridges.
Facilities include a Galley, Toilets,
Showers and Changing Rooms.

Club racing is on
Monday nights and a combination of cruises and races on
a Friday evening. Club races are selected from a range
of local marks depending on wind conditions. The races
provide a good opportunity for all members to improve
their sailing skills. There are three
main open events during the sailing
season, the Regatta, Stern Chase and Mazzoni and
Costello races.
The Regatta is an open race around
local race marks. The Stern Chase has an allocated start
time depending on the handicap for the boat. This race,
in recent years, has been to Dysart, Kirkcaldy, Granton
and North Queensferry. The Mazzoni and Costello races
are held on the same day and is also a Forth Inshore
Group race.
Club races are based on the
FYCA handicaps with allowances for not using a
spinnaker.
Burntisland Sailing Club is a
member of the Forth Yacht Club Association (FYCA)
and is
affiliated to the RYA.
