Burntisland Sailing Club is
one of the main sailing clubs on the
Firth of Forth in Scotland.
The next event are the
Mazzoni and Costello races on Sunday 19th July. The
Mazzoni starts at Port Edgar at 10am and the
Cosyello at Burntisland at 11am. The finish for both
races will be at Burntisland.
Entry form is on the
FYCA website.
The Club's first cruise of
the year saw six boats make the trip up through the
bridges to Port Edgar Marina.
The day started warm, overcast with a 10 knot breeze.
The sun started to break through as we approached
Inchmickerry but the wind steadily increased to 20 knots
from the west- double the forecast. The fleet coped well
and after a brisk sail they arrived at Port Edgar. By
then the sea was choppy with the wind over tide and the
wind was up a knot or two.
One or two minor mishaps for the less experienced
docking but a good steep learning curve!
After picnics and snacks at the Marina cafe we all set
sail for the return journey, with the tide again. Some
lovely views of Inch Colm and Cramond Island were
enjoyed.
The sail back took half the time and the boats were all
tied up by 4.00p.m.
Some photographs will be available from Andy and Len on
the web and in the clubhouse.
The next cruise will be to Fisherrow and dates and tides
will be published soon.
