Junior Training Weekend with Draycote Water Sailing ClubWhitsun Weekend, 26, 27 & 28 May 2001Click here for update. IntroductionDraycote Water has a flourishing junior fleet but opportunities for sea training are limited. We propose to hold a joint junior New Quay Yacht Club/ Draycote Water SC training weekend, combined with dinghy racing for all ages in Optimists, Toppers, Picos, Laser and handicap classes for both juniors and the not so junior amongst us. If there is interest at DWSC, we may be able to bring a rib and instructors. Numbers will clearly depend on interest but this will be a great opportunity to sail with youngsters from another club and for parents with newly acquired Lasers to do a bit of racing as well. To maximise the opportunities for interaction, it would be good to have food available in the club at lunchtimes plus an evening entertainment Saturday and ? Sunday. Provisionally, Saturday could feature sailing videos, Sunday a quiz night plus food both evenings, though I'm open to suggestions for both as well as volunteers to help run things both onshore and offshore. The sailingDepending on the attendance, we would plan to have training in the morning jointly with the DWSC junior fleet in Optimists, Toppers, Picos, Lasers/Laser Radials and menagerie classes. In the afternoon there will be racing with class starts according to numbers, with races open to non-juniors. Provisional Cost (to include meals, tuition etc)Children £20 each Adults £15 each If interested please complete the provisional statement of interest form below to allow me to assess levels of interest. As soon as details are finalised, I shall circulate a booking form. volunteers will be needed as detailed below:
Please contact me as soon as possible if interested. In particular, I need names of volunteers to ensure that we can run the sailing. If there is insufficient interest we could still run a smaller scale operation, for example Saturday and Sunday only, with racing for those interested on Monday morning. I can be contacted on 01926 842429 or via email or by post at Breach Manor, Breach Lane, Claverdon, Warks CV35 8QB. For further details see http://homepages.rya-online/NQYC Nick James 22/08/01 |
